Gilbert Has Great Churches. Here Is Why Families Keep Driving Past Them to Come to Us.
If you have been searching for a church near Gilbert, AZ, you already know you have options. Gilbert is full of churches. Big ones. Well-funded ones. Churches with campuses and coffee bars and production lighting.
So why are Gilbert families driving 30 minutes out to Gold Canyon every Sunday to attend Superstition Foothills Baptist Church?
We hear this question a lot, and the answer is usually the same. They came once because they were curious. They kept coming because they found something they were not finding closer to home. A church where the Bible is taught straight through, passage by passage. A congregation that feels like a family. A Sunday morning that is unhurried and genuine.
We would love for you to come see what that is.
What Sunday Morning Looks Like
Sunday worship begins at 9:00 AM and runs about an hour. It is a blended service, meaning you will hear both traditional hymns and contemporary worship music, all centered on singing truth together rather than putting on a show.
At 10:30 AM, we move into Bible Study, where smaller groups dig into the same passage at a slower pace with room for real questions and honest conversation.
Throughout the week we also gather for Women’s Bible Study on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 AM, Evening Prayer on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 PM, and Thursday Evening Bible Study at 6:00 PM.
The preaching is expository, meaning Pastor Timothy Jennings works through books of the Bible verse by verse. The goal is always to let Scripture say what it actually says and help people walk out with something real to carry into the week. No felt-need gimmicks. No topical series built around what is trending. Just the Word, opened carefully and applied honestly.
Dress is casual. Come as you are. Nobody is keeping score.
Kids and Families Are Welcome Here
If you are driving from Gilbert with kids in the car, here is what you need to know.
Children from infants through sixth grade have their own programming during the worship service. We use the AWANA curriculum, which is Scripture-focused, structured, and genuinely engaging for kids at every age. It is completely free.
Drop-off is easy. The environment is safe and caring. And your kids will probably ask to come back next week.
We know the drive from Gilbert to Gold Canyon adds time to your Sunday morning. Families who make that drive tell us their kids are part of the reason they keep coming back.

The Kind of Church We Are
We are a Baptist church, which means we hold Scripture as our final authority and practice believer’s baptism. But if the word Baptist carries baggage for you, give us a chance to reintroduce it.
We are not stiff or formal. There is no dress code, no pressure to perform, and no moment where you are asked to stand up and introduce yourself to a room full of strangers. What you will find is a congregation of ordinary people who are trying to follow Jesus together, with genuine warmth toward anyone who walks through the door.
We are not the largest church in the East Valley. We are not trying to be. We are trying to be a place where people are known, where the Bible is taught faithfully, and where the gospel of Jesus Christ is central to everything we do.
If that is what you have been looking for, you will feel it pretty quickly on a Sunday morning.
