All Hands On Deck!
We read in Luke 5 about Jesus calling His first disciples to follow Him. Simon (Peter) and his partners had been out fishing all night but they were unsuccessful. Jesus was borrowing Simon’s boat to teach from while he and his partners were cleaning their nets. After they were done Jesus told Simon to put his boat out in the deep water and cast his nets. Reluctantly, Simon listened and it lead to the biggest catch of his career. Simon and his partners finally get the fish back to shore and they decide to leave it all to follow Jesus. When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.
