The Parable of the Talents
In Matthew 25:14-30 we see Jesus teaching people using parables. In this particular parable, Jesus compares the Kingdom of God to a man who gave 3 men some money to invest for him while he was a way. You DON’T want to miss out on this incredible word from God!
Mini Sermon Outline
A rich man untrusted 3 servants with large sums of money to invest while he was away. Two servants did well and doubled their money. The last one decided to just bury his and give it back when the master returned.
- Lesson 1: Success is a product of hard work.
- Lesson 2: God always gives us everything we need to do what He called us to do.
- Lesson 3: We are not all created with equal skillsets
- Lesson 4: We work for the Master not out own selfish purposes
- Lesson 5: We will be held accountable
“So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'” Matthew 25:20-23
Overview of The Parables of Jesus
For the next few weeks we will be going over The Parables of Jesus. A parable is a short fictional story that has a teaching moment. They are often easy to detect in the Bible because when told, characters in parables do not have names. Instead you see generalizations like “There was a man…” or “The bride…”
