SERVE – The Waterfall of Service
In 2020 our focus word for Superstition Foothills Baptist Church is SERVE. Just like in our focus word was BEYOND in 2019, we will be focusing all year long on serving. This sermon is the third sermon in our SERVE sermon series entitled The Waterfall of Service.
In this sermon we explore a passage from Acts 9. In the scripture from Acts, we see a man named Ananias who was instructed by God to go and find a man named Saul and pray for him. The problem in Ananias’ mind was that Saul was well-known for his killing and imprisoning of many Christ followers at the time. Listen to see how God took Ananias single act of service and changed the world!
Serve Sermon Featured Passage
“Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and to him the Lord said in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Here I am, Lord.” So the Lord said to him, “Arise and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus, for behold, he is praying. And in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and putting his hand on him, so that he might receive his sight.” Then Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem. And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name.” But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.” –Acts 9:10-15
What’s The Point?
When we serve we never really never know the full impact it will have. In the case of Ananias, when he chose to serve God, he took part in bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles (everyone who was not Jewish).
